Why hello there, 2009 :)

Resolutions:

1) Make it through 2009.

I began to read my new years resolutions to my little sister and she started laughing after I stated my number one.

That sounds like something from a movie... Like a very depressed person making their resolutions: 1) stop smoking 2) lose 50 pounds 3) Make it through 2009.

I chuckled when she said it and thought about what I really meant when I wrote that as my first goal. I still stand by it, and it's still on my list but not in a negative way. It's there because I know this year is going to be so f'n hard, scary, emotional, intense, etc...and I intend my make way way through all of it- and I'm SO excited for it it all.

The rest of my goals pertain to things I need to do in my last semester of college, a creative project that I've been wanting to start but haven't, taking care of myself como siempre, and a couple mind frame switches. Those are the hardest to do because it's not an easy check off the list- but I'm going to give it a shot because my year will be better If i can get my thoughts on the right track in a few areas.

Yay for New Years. I reflected back on 2008 before I made my list for 2009, and I have to say 2008 was a pretty amazing year and I love being alive.

okay sappy mushy aside- break has been treating me well. A lot of time with the family has been great, and the Holidays always have been and always be my favorite time of the year. Right now I'm reading The Fountainhead, and am falling in love with Ayn Rand's ideas all over again, and with her protaganist Howard Roark. She is becoming my favorite author.

As for music my newest addiction is Human, and could listen to it over and over and over again- and I do. My favorite lyrics are...

...And sometimes I get nervous
When I see an open door
Close your eyes
Clear your heart...
Cut the cord

Are we human?
Or are we dancer?
My sign is vital
My hands are cold
And I'm on my knees
Looking for the answer
Are we human?
Or are we dancer?

Pay my respects to grace and virtue
Send my condolences to good
Give my regards to soul and romance,
They always did the best they could
And so long to devotion
You taught me everything I know
Wave goodbye
Wish me well..
You've got to let me go

Salud, 2009.

    1) my mom was "reading" fountainhead for her book club when I moved to Berkeley so we listened to it on book tape. I Love that book.
    2) I Hate that song. Because no matter the rest of the words, the lyrics "are we human or are we dancer" (is it dancer or dancers?) make me ponder when the two became mutually exclusive or if the lyrics are in fact dancer and not dancers, are they are talking about one of santa's reindeer? I hate that song. Hahaha.

Yeah at first I was annoyed with the song for the same reason, until I figured out what it means aka I was told what it means.

It's about being human and having free will and making choices and thinking for yourself, as opposed to being puppet being controlled (..that's why he says cut the cord). So Dancer isn't a noun...like are we dancers..its an adjective. I don't know- i think It's a beautiful message :)

and plus it's so damn catchy.
