Badger in Buenos Aires
I'm going to South America within the next two years of my life. Until then- I can read about how sweet it is... JMOR's adventures in Buenos Aires and more... Miss you Chica!!
...The next weekend, I flew down to Patagonia with 4 other friends from
the program. IÂm attaching a couple pictures from the trip, but they
canÂt even do justice to how amazing this place was. We went to El
Calafate, which is home to tons of glaciers including the Perrito
Morreno Glaciar, which we got to hike on! ItÂs the biggest in the
area and one of the only glaciers that is not disappearing due to
global warning (although not according to American republicans our
tour guide reminded us ) We also went horseback riding in the hills
and valleys around the Andes mountains followed by another asado and
wine dinner with a campfire (are you sensing a common Argentine
tradition?) The next day we took a bus (4 ½ hours which now seems
like nothing and I donÂt think I can ever complain about the drive to
Madison again!) to El Chaltén, another city in Patagonia a little
further north. We went on a 13 mile day hike up to a viewpoint for
Fitz Roy, the biggest and most well known mo
untain in the area. It was absolutely gorgeous. After hiking
straight up for 1 ½ hours, we climbed over the top and were suddenly
at this completely deserted, serene, quiet and private glacier lake
surrounded by the huge peak of Fitz Roy (see attached picture and
realize that it was 100 times cooler than it looks.)
So that was the Patagonia trip so much fun and such amazing views....
*sigh* trying not to think toooo far ahead in my life..but it's hard when you hear about how amazing the world is!
