So a very very long time ago, there lived Emperor Claudius II. Now, Claudius was on a powertrip one day when he decided he wanted the very best army in the world. "How can I do this?" he thought to himself. He came to the conclusion that he needed men who were soley devoted to his glorious army. On this thought, he made a decree that there were to be no more marraiges under his rule. He wanted single men with no disctractions fighting for him.

During this time, there lived St. Valentine. He thought this decree was simply absurd! He made a decision to secretly marry couples behind the emperor's back. Unfortunalty he was soon caught and put in jail. During his improsnment, the jailer's daughter visited St. Valentine every day to keep him company, for she heard of his story and felt so very bad for this man.

On Feburary 14th, 279 AD St. Valentine was executed for his disloyalty to the Emperor. It was on this day that the young jailer's daughter received a letter, signed at the botton: Love your Valentine.

Now if that didn't make your heart melt, I don't know what will. Well no roses or chocolates for me today but another fun Valentines day fact for you my dear... The average female will spend $34 dollars on her Valentine, while the average male will spend $92. :)
